Where MRB talks a little bit more about all the things

Something new…

A word from our Children’s Director, Sarah Stone:

“Our routines become who we are, become the story and the culture of our families.” – Justin Whitmel Earley

Our children love the routines we love, our liturgies. It’s true at home – family movie nights, burgers on Fridays, bedtime songs. And it’s true in our Sunday worship when we cast our problems to the cross, or sing “I love you Lord, for you have delivered me…” and of course, when we walk the center aisle to receive communion from Fr. Al. Just as we are formed by our liturgies of song, word, and movement that point us toward Christ, our children are formed by our repetitions of these things as well.

We have found a beautiful place in our weekly service to include a new liturgy of blessing for our children. On April 26th we will introduce a call and response prayer and a song we will sing before dismissing the children to their Sunday classes. We hope this new rhythm will do 3 things for our hearts: 1. We want to remind ourselves that the discipleship of these children is our corporate and communal responsibility of love.  2. We want our children to see themselves as important members of our faith community. 3. We hope to remember our own childlike status before our loving Father God, that we would, like our new song declares, have “ears to hear His loving voice speaking all around…and deep inside.”

We hope you’ll listen, and come ready to sing next Sunday!
